Chris Buckley Resigns from National Review

Bucky certainly fired a salvo over the bow of the GOP the other day with his mash note to his bosses at NatRev.

"Eight years of 'conservative' government has brought us a doubled national debt, ruinous expansion of entitlement programs, bridges to nowhere, poster boy Jack Abramoff and an ill-premised, ill-waged war conducted by politicians of breathtaking arrogance. As a sideshow, it brought us a truly obscene attempt at federal intervention in the Terry Schiavo case."

Spitzer Space Telescope

Pictured above is the Pinwheel Galaxy, taken by the Spitzer Space Telescope. The Pinwheel is 27 million light-years away from us, here at Dispatches, in the constellation Ursa Major. It is an outstanding image choice for our blog.

NASA never ceases to amaze me. It's one thing to put a man on the moon, but they have published amazing amounts of quality information for the public through the years. I've been feasting on their communications since I was a kid. As zonked-out, space travel junky in the mid-60s I wrote NASA twice a year for their latest collateral. I remember receiving through the mail a magnificient, glossy, four-color brochure in 1966, and getting my first glimpse of the Apollo spacecrafts and a preview of the moon mission.
